Colonel WILLIAM C. PETERSON

Col. William C. Peterson is the Director of Staff, Headquarters Air Education and Training Command, Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas. As Director of Staff, he is the principal advisor to the commander and vice commander. He is the principal staff leader providing guidance and direction to ten flying training wings, four technical training wings, a medical wing, Air University, two numbered Air Forces, nationwide recruiting operations and headquarters directors and chiefs of special staff across all functional specialties. Colonel Peterson supervises implementation of command decisions, plans and policies for a staff of nearly 1,400 military members and civilian employees, and directly manages the headquarters’ $68 million budget.

Colonel Peterson, from Lubbock, Texas, received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Texas Tech University in 1990 and was commissioned through the Air Force ROTC program. He earned a Master of Science degree in management from Embry Riddle University.

Colonel Peterson is a career logistics officer who has served in various capacities to include group commander, deputy group commander and squadron commander. Prior to this assignment, he was the Commander, 82nd Mission Support Group, 82nd Training Wing, Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas.
