AETC launches Innovation Challenge

JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-RANDOLPH, Texas --

The AETC Innovation Challenge launches across the command today and continues through February 2017. AETC members are encouraged to submit innovative ideas for awards.

“Every day, Airmen across our command find innovative ways to employ resources and get the mission done,” said Lt. Gen. Darryl Roberson, commander of Air Education and Training Command. “Whether it is improving an existing process or creating something completely new, you amaze me with your ingenuity and enterprise. If your unit exemplifies an innovative culture or has attacked a mission-related challenge in a new and inventive way, we want to know about it.”

The innovation competition will consist of four categories: Institutional Culture, Mission Accomplishment, AETC Big Rocks and Air Force Big Rocks.

The top two units in each category will present their innovation success at the next AETC Senior Leader Conference scheduled for March 2017. There, the winners from each category will be announced and presented with a total of $250,000 in awards.

“Today’s Airmen find things that don’t work and they fix them,” Sean Harrington, Innovation and Transformation Division acting chief, said. “Empowered Airmen, supportive leaders, and honest feedback cultivate innovation. The nature of our mission not only asks us to find innovative solutions to our problems - it demands it.”

The Innovation Challenge process includes submitting an Air Force Form 1206. For more information on the challenge, please call Mr. Sean Harrington at 652-8413.
