MAJOR GENERAL BARBARA J. FAULKENBERRY

Maj. Gen. Barbara J. Faulkenberry is the Vice Commander, 18th Air Force, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. responsible for the command’s worldwide mission of providing rapid global mobility for America’s armed forces through airlift, aerial refueling, aeromedical evacuation, and the enroute/contingency logistics support. The command includes 37,000 active-duty airmen and civilians and 1,100 aircraft, including subordinate organizations of the 618th Air and Space Operations Center, 11 wings and two stand-alone groups. 

General Faulkenberry entered the Air Force in 1982 as a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy. Her career includes a variety of operational positions to include squadron, group, wing, and task force command. She held key command and leadership positions in operations Southern Watch, Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom; and led as the Director of Mobility Forces for the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility during the drawdown of forces in Iraq and simultaneous build up in Afghanistan. Her staff assignments include experience in operations, logistics, strategy, international negotiations, governmental affairs, and leadership development.

The U.S. Junior Chamber (Jaycees) named General Faulkenberry as one of the "Ten Outstanding Young Americans" in 1997. She was the 1991 Air Force Female Athlete of the Year, and is a 12-time Military Racquetball champion.
