330th Activation Ceremony

JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO, Texas – For the first time in history, the Air Force created a unit solely dedicated to inspiring, engaging and recruiting men and women with the dedication, physical stamina and resilience required to conduct the Air Force Special Operations mission.

Media are invited to attend the Activation Ceremony of the 330th Recruiting Squadron on June 29 at Lackland Air Force Base’s Medina Annex. Show time will be 0930 at the Medina Gate and media should RSVP to the POC below before noon June 28.

Media will attend:
- Jump Into Ceremony with American Flag
- Memorial Push ups at Forbes Hall flag pole
- Assumption of Command Ceremony

Media will have the chance to interview Special Operations Recruiting leadership and recruiters, Special Operations Leadership, and Battle field Airman Prep-School staff.

This recruiting unit is part of the revolutionary new Special Operations recruiting model.

Recruits with potential who are identified by Special Operations recruiters will then work with contracted “Developers” to hone the recruit’s physical and mental stamina before they ship to
Basic Military Training (BMT) at Lackland AFB. After BMT recruits will begin a brand new seven-week prep-school which prepares them for the challenges they will face during the rigorous two-year Special Operations training pipeline.

The 330th recruiting squadron will be dedicated to recruiting historically hard to fill positions such as Pararescue (PJ), Combat Control (CCT), Special Operations Weather (SOWT), Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) as well as Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape (SERE) instructors, and Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) technicians.

These positions require special qualifications including passing the Physical Ability and Stamina Test (PAST), and more stringent requirements on the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude
Battery (ASVAB) test. The future Airmen must be confident, physically fit and have the grit to never quit in the face of great challenge.

The new squadron will be comprised of 96 Recruiters, 12 Flight Chiefs and 12 Assistant Flight Chiefs operating in strategic locations across the country under 330th Recruiting Squadron leadership headquartered at JBSA Randolph AFB, TX.
