Black History Trailblazers in Aviation and Space
Katherine Johnson (née Coleman; August 26, 1918 – February 24, 2020) processed calculations of astrodynamics and orbital mechanics that were critical to the success of the first and subsequent U.S.-crewed spaceflights. Johnson was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2015.
