New Mexico native is Spotlight Airman of the Month

KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. --  

The Spotlight Airmen of the Month is Airman 1st Class Daisia Martinez. The Los Lunas native and graduate of Los Lunas High School works in Services, 150th Mission Support Group.
“I’m super into sports and fitness—playing and watching,” Martinez said. She won multiple state basketball championships while attending Los Lunas High.
She joined the military after graduating high school to be part of another team.
“Once I graduated high school, playing sports, I love being part of a team and I was missing something, so joining the military to be part of one of the biggest teams. Come to find out I was not only joining a team but a family,” Martinez said.
She is currently a full-time temporary technician and volunteers for the wing’s honor guard. She was also part of the winning team in The Adjutant General’s Culinary Challenge earlier this year.
In five years, she looks forward to taking any temporary duty assignments that come her way as well as earning her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing all while staying in Services.
