AAFB Airmen host STEM fair for local schools Published April 5, 2022 By Airman 1st Class Miyah Gray 97th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs On March 30, 2022, the Altus Air Force Base Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Council partnered with local schools to host a STEM fair at Altus High School for students grades six through 12. The purpose of the council is to help streamline on-base and base-supported STEM Education Programs and Activities for K-12 education in the Altus area and the surrounding school districts. STEM education provides knowledge and problem solving skills by focusing on connecting classroom learning to the real world. The STEM fair included approximately 20 immersive activities, 60 volunteers and more than 1,100 student attendees.
