Earners of this badge have successfully demonstrated understanding of four learning theories (Behaviorism, Cognitivism, Constructivism and Connectivism) and applied the theories when designing and developing content for training/education venues. The earner has demonstrated the ability to develop instructional interventions based on stakeholder requirements and sound learning theory.

Earning Criteria:

• Complete AETC Training Development course (this link is to DoD's ETCA system and requires a CAC certificate to enter).
• Conducts front-end analysis (FEA) based on stakeholder requirements to determine learning gaps and opportunities. Document requirements and makes recommendations on possible learning inventions based on these findings.
• Based on the FEA findings, design and develop a block or unit of instruction using one or more of the four learning theories (behaviorism, cognitivism, constructivism, and connectivism).
• Validate instruction by conducting small group tryouts.
