  • Airmen share financial freedom advice with elementary students

    Members of the 97th Air Mobility Wing read youth financial education books to 3rd graders at L. Mendel Rivers Elementary School during Military Financial Freedom Month, April 26 – 30, 2021. This was part of an initiative by the Airmen and Family Readiness Center to teach the importance of saving and spread financial literacy to local youths. Each day, new volunteers from the base came and read to the children about different financial topics including: working, saving, giving, spending, integrity and debt.
  • 97 AMW Childcare providers step up to support parents

    Behind every military child is a service member who cares for them at home. When away from home, these parents play an important role in the nation’s defense and rely on others to care for their children. As many parents know, childcare is essential in enabling them to focus on their responsibilities at work.

    Air University hosted its first K-12 Education Summit Jan. 9, 2019, in order to start a dialogue about enhancing and improving the educational opportunities available to students throughout the River Region.
  • Sacrifices of the military child recognized during April

    Established by then-Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger in 1986, the Month of the Military Child recognizes some 1.9 million U.S. military children ranging in age from infants to 18 years old, who have one or both parents serving in the armed forces.
