  • AETC commander takes closer look at SERE training

    Lt. Gen. Brad Webb, commander of Air Education and Training Command, visited the Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape School here Aug. 11, 2021. Webb’s visit included immersions at the 336th Training Group’s SERE School, water survival training, 36th Rescue Squadron and recognition of Air Force Special Warfare Airmen of the Year Award winners.

    The 336th Training Group at Fairchild AFB, Washington, is streamlining Air Force Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape training with several possible permanent changes to modernize training which have been under review but are being expedited because of COVID-19.
  • 36th Rescue Squadron commemorates 700th save

    The 36th Rescue Squadron commemorated the successful completion of its 700th save at a ceremony held Sept. 20 at Fairchild Air Force Base. The ceremony included a Bell UH-1N Iroquois ‘Huey’ helicopter performing a search and rescue demonstration, a helicopter fly-over, and the unveiling of a plaque commemorating the 700th save that took place on Aug. 12.

  • SERE graduates class with historically low attrition

    The 336th Training Group held a graduation ceremony for its most successful Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape Specialist Apprentice Course January 8, with an all-time low attrition rate of just 7 percent. Prior to becoming SERE specialists, candidates go through a strenuous six-month training pipeline where normal attrition rates average about 50 percent due to the rigorous nature of the training, which takes them from San Antonio, Texas, to here at Fairchild.
  • 19th AW aids several MAJCOM's in accomplishing jump training

    The 19th Airlift Wing showcased Air Mobility Command capabilities to the total force at Sontay drop zone, Florida, April 27 to May 1, 2020, in order to help certify Air Force Special Operations Command Special Tactics operators.
