Two years later on 8 Nov 1954, the unit became the 58th Field Maintenance Squadron. Although it inactivated on 1 Jul 1958, the Air Force reactivated it on 15 Oct 1969 and changed its name again to the 58th Equipment Maintenance Squadron on 15 Aug 1977.
