Colonel CHAPLAIN DOUGLAS J. SLATER, SR.

Chaplain (Col.) Douglas Slater is the Command Chaplain, Headquarters Air Education and Training Command (AETC), Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas. As Command Chaplain, he advises and represents the AETC commander on all aspects of the Chaplain Corps mission. Chaplain Slater directs the AETC headquarters chaplain staff and exercises oversight to a Chaplain Corps of approximately 121 personnel at 18 locations in the Command. He also ensures all of AETC’s chaplains and chaplain assistants are trained and equipped for global deployment.

The command is responsible for the recruitment, training, and education of all Air Force people. The 62,000 active duty, Reserve, Guard, civilian, and contractor personnel of AETC train more than 293,000 students per year.

Chaplain Slater has deployed in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. Prior to this assignment he was the Commandant for the Air Force Chaplain Corps College at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.
