AETC announces Distinguished Civilian Service Award winner

Air Education and Training Command officials recently announced the AETC winner for the 53rd Annual Department of Defense Distinguished Civilian Service Award.: 

The command is pleased to announce Risa J. Hillard, 82nd Training Group, Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas. This award annually recognizes career civilian employees whose careers reflect exceptional devotion to duty and extremely significant contributions of a broad scope to the efficiency, economy or other improvement in the operation of the Department of Defense.

Ms. Hillard has held numerous leadership positions over the past 10 years in the development of both United States and Allied Air Force officer and enlisted corps. She was directly responsible for the Air Force' production of training plans and course control documents for 126 courses impacting more than 24,000 Airmen and international trainees annually, while supporting the Global War on Terrorism. 

Her recent efforts led to the development of 11 technical training courses for the Coalition Air Forces Transition Team training the Iraqi Air Force. Ms. Hillard was the architect of the wing's civilian mentoring program and civilian information Website, enhancing the development of the Department of Defense civilian work force and led to two Air Force "Best Practices." 

Her leadership and management of technical training course development and execution have earned an additional two Air Force "Best Practices." 

She now competes at the Air Force level competition.
