AETC releases command's 2014 Strategic Plan

JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-RANDOLPH, Texas -- Air Education and Training Command officials released its 2014 AETC Strategic Plan today.

The plan's primary purpose is to ensure all members of the Air Force's first command effectively work together to reach AETC's vision in forging innovative Airmen to power the world's greatest Air Force.

"The strategic plan is not a stand-alone tool; it is a map that ensures we are all driving to the same place," said Gen. Robin Rand, AETC Commander.

The plan explores the strategic environment of today, outlines the AETC vision and mission, then sets forth command priorities with focus areas for each. Rand says to best accomplish the mission, his priorities start and end with Airmen.

"First and foremost, AETC will foster inspired service at every level. Based on in-depth understanding and adherence to core values, the Airman's Creed, standards and traditions, our purpose is to mold men and women who are guided by integrity, service and excellence," he said. "Within a climate of professionalism and mutual respect, we will prepare fit Airmen ready and able to provide airpower to meet the range of military operations from humanitarian relief to combat operations, as called upon by our nation."

The plan also announces the realigning of command headquarters over the next three years to execute the command's varied Air Force missions.

"Executing today's mission is paramount, but we must also prepare to meet future missions," Rand said. "We will aggressively work to shape Air Force decisions and continue to evolve our learning environments to be more effective, efficient and better support to our student Airmen."

Above all, according to Rand, the 2014 Strategic Plan can help provide unity of effort and keep the command focused on meeting the mission while supporting Airmen and their families.
