F-35A Lightning IIs display air superiority

F-35A Lightning IIs assigned to the 62nd Fighter Squadron prepare for takeoff April 2, 2020, at Luke Air Force Base, Ariz. There are 98 F-35s assigned to Luke, and they are used to train the world’s greatest fighter pilots and combat ready Airmen. Since implementing preventative health measures for Coronavirus Disease 2019, the base has reduced flying hours and implemented minimum manning measures to maximize health precautions. While flying training operations at Luke continue in support of national security objectives, the preventative health measures are designed protect personnel while balancing the Department of Defense’s sustained requirement for trained pilots.
