Air Education and Training Command


Air Education and Training Command, with headquarters at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas, was established and activated in January 1942, making it the second oldest major command in the Air Force. Its training mission makes it the first command to touch the life of nearly every Air Force member.

Unit History
Lineage: Constituted as the 58th Airdrome Squadron on 25 Jan 1943 and activated on 1 Feb 1943. It was re-designated as the 58th Airdrome Squadron, Special, on 18 Apr 1943 and disbanded on 1 Apr 1944. It was finally re-constituted and activated on 1 Oct 1991 as the 58th Special Operations Support Squadron.
