Mueller 81st Training Wing Public Affairs KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. -- Robert Fried, 334th Training Squadron instructor, received the 2018 Civilian Instructor of the Year award for Second Air Force, here. Fried was heavily involved in course development of the radar, airfield and weather career field, as well as developed all course materials for the introduction block, tower climbing and weather equipment. Fried worked as a subject matter expert and lead developer for the Tactical Air Navigation and Instrument Landing System blocks of instruction. “My inspiration is rooted in my faith and a belief that we always give our best effort in anything we strive to accomplish,” said Fried. “There is an old saying in one of my favorite books that stated, ‘How you do anything is how you do everything.’” In addition to his contributions at work, Fried also helped at multiple volunteer events, including preparing Thanksgiving meals in food kitchens and walking six hours to raise $5,000 and awareness for breast cancer. “I feel a bit embarrassed when coworkers congratulate me,” said Fried. “I never intended to do anything more than contribute to the 334th TRS team and help those folks really in need.”
