USAF women pilots to provide inspiration to future female aviators at Girls in Aviation Day Published Sept. 11, 2019 By AETC Public Affairs AETC Public Affairs JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-RANDOLPH, Texas – The Air Education and Training Command Women’s Fly-In event in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area Sept. 18-21 will bring rated officers and career enlisted aviators together to network, mentor and inspire others to “Fly Like a Girl.” As part of the Fly-In, Air Force women pilots and static display aircraft will be at the “Girls in Aviation Day” event Sept. 21 at the Frontiers of Flight Museum at Love Field. The fifth annual event, hosted by the North Texas Chapter of Women in Aviation International, is part of the national effort to inspire the next generation of women aviators, with approximately 2,000 girls aged 8-16 having the opportunity to connect with real-life role models. The Women’s Fly-In is the only Air Force event that brings together this large group of women aviators to foster mentorship and create networks to learn more about leadership and aviation. Additionally on Sept. 21 and in conjunction with the Women’s Fly-In, familiarization flights aboard USAF aircraft will be given to approximately 60-100 Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps, ROTC and U.S. Air Force Academy cadets at Alliance Airfield in Ft. Worth. Aircraft include the C-17 Globemaster III, C-130 Hercules and KC-135 Stratotanker. Both events are part of the Air Force’s efforts to inspire, engage, and connect to a diverse pool of potential aviator’s to the military. Through a more diverse force, we can leverage our differences to makes us a better, stronger, more lethal force.
