LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas – Ines Torres-Wong, a 47th Force Support Squadron assignments technician, was chosen by wing leadership to be the “XLer of the Week” of Oct. 2, 2019 at Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas.

Torres-Wong, in her short time on the job, authorized more than 50 orders, which helps ensure Laughlin’s personnel reach their next assignment on time with no shifts or delays in schedule.

“I take care of pretty much everything from the beginning to the end when I notify the commander that their members have received a PCS assignment to their final out-processing,” she said. “I also work a bit with retainability if their assignment requires it, and whether the member seeks retainability or not.”

A firm believer in furthering education, Torres-Wong coordinated multiple training sessions with her team to cover various topics from customer service to records and logging. The purpose of the training is to improve her office on how to better serve Team XL, and where to refer them if they can’t resolve a matter internally.

“The in-house trainings aren’t just for assignments, they’re sometimes about retirements, separations, re-enlistments, or extensions,” she said. “It’s to get an overview of other responsibilities within our office and the Force Support Squadron.”

Through her duties, she also helps Laughlin’s inbound Airmen find affordable, available housing by helping Laughlin’s outbound Airmen move in a timely manner.

“Depending on the assignments, sometimes it’s critical for me to get with members so I can work on their orders, which helps them out-process from base housing or schedule moving their household goods faster,” she said. “It frees up more room for inbound members to move in.”

For her work in guiding members of Team XL to their next assignments while improving her office’s productivity and performance, Ines Torres-Wong has earned the “XLer of the Week.”
