STARBASE students learn about STEM at Altus AFB Published Oct. 29, 2019 By Senior Airman Cody Dowell ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- The 97th Air Mobility Wing hosted a career day for the students of the STARBASE Oklahoma class on Oct. 24, 2019, on base. They learned about multiple jobs in the Air Force involving Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) and received a tour of the base’s three aircraft: the KC-135 Stratotanker, C-17 Globemaster III and KC-46 Pegasus. A total of approximately 120 kids and faculty members from five schools across the state learned about the focused career opportunities the Air Force has to offer. The STARBASE program is a DoD youth program on raising interest and knowledge of skills in STEM, which aims to provide for a highly educated and skilled American workforce who can meet the advanced technological requirements of the DoD.
