To help prepare for the 2020 ‘Fiesta of Flight’ Air & Space Expo at Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas, the base was visited by the advanced site survey team from the U.S. Air Force Aerial Demonstration Team, also known as the “Thunderbirds”.

“We’re excited to be here! Coming to a pilot training base is an experience in-and-of itself, because it’s one of our main demographics,” said Maj. Jason Markzon, U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds pilot. “I remember when I was a student and I’d see an F-16, let alone a Thunderbirds F-16 sitting on the ramp.”

The team participated in meetings with base agencies, a ‘pet-the-jet’ tour for military and their family members and visited the KDLK 94.1 FM radio station in Del Rio, Texas to talk about the upcoming air and space expo.

“I can feel the excitement being here right now,” Markzon said. “We’re going to kick it up a notch, maybe ten notches when we get to Laughlin in March.”

The Thunderbirds are scheduled to be performing at the ‘Fiesta of Flight’ Air & Space Expo, which is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. on March 14th, 2020.
