SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas – A consumer confidence report released recently by the 82nd Medical Group Bioenvironmental Flight shows the water supply serving Sheppard AFB meets or exceeds standards established by the Environmental Protection Agency.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality mandates public water systems to release an Annual Drinking Water Quality Report by July 1 to inform their consumers on the quality of their water. According to the report, data was gathered from required EPA testing and analyzed.

Sheppard AFB is a wholesale water customer of the city of Wichita Falls’ public drinking water system. The city receives its water from two primary sources: Lake Arrowhead and Lake Kickapoo. Wichita Falls conducts the majority of monitoring and treatment of the water, while Sheppard’s bioenvironmental team keeps an eye on contaminants and hazards that are specific to the Sheppard AFB system.
