Colonel James Finlayson, 17th Training Wing vice commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Casy Boomershine, 17th TRW command chief, took time to have lunch with and get to know just a few individuals on the city council. “Before I got here, just looking at the area and the community bond, I was very excited,” said Boomerhine. “I could see that the arrangements with the university and everything else, it seemed like I was joining a community team.” Goodfellow and San Angelo have proven the strength of their partnership by winning the Altus Trophy twice, being the only base and community to do so, and these meetings allow that to continue. Upcoming events like the Air Force Ball, Military Appreciation Day, and more still in the planning were discussed. “You don’t have this kind of a relationship with the base in other towns,” said Finlayson. “That is something Chief Boomershine and I were talking about on the way over here, and I just think that we are fortunate.
