Reserve Citizen Airman Maj. Christine Wagner, 39th Flying Training Squadron T-1A evaluator pilot and T-1A schoolhouse chief instructor pilot, was honored as the August 2020 Schertz Cibolo Selma Area Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Council Hidden Hero during a ceremony held at the Schertz Civic Center Aug. 18.

The MAC Hidden Heroes program exists to honor military members and veterans for their contributions to defense, as well as to the local base and civilian communities, committee chair Ivory Freeman explained.

Wagner, who is also a 340th Flying Training Group nominee for the Air Force Reserve Profiles in Leadership program, is a prior Regular Air Force (active duty) C17A pilot, who set the bar when she completed specialized undergraduate pilot training and was tapped as a first assignment instructor pilot.

Married to a fellow 39th FTS instructor pilot, Wagner is also a full-time mother of two, will tell you she just loves to teach and is incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve while remaining dedicated to her family.

"Wagner epitomizes Total Force Integration, having used her expertise to develop new T-1A syllabi, instruct the 12th Operations Group’s advanced instructor concepts course, and serve as one of the initial cadre building the 19th Air Force's master aviator instructor course," said Lt. Col. Thomas Lessner, 39th FTS commander.
