SAN ANGELO, Texas-- Goodfellow members volunteered during Military Appreciation Night here at the San Angelo Rodeo, April 21.

The San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo Association hosted Military Appreciation Night at the Foster Communications Coliseum, honoring military members for protecting the rights and freedom of others.

Beginning the night, U.S. Air Force Col. Andres Nazario, 17th Training Wing commander, enlisted nine individuals into the armed forces.

Next, U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Deshontea Walker, 344th Military Intelligence Battalion non-commissioned officer in charge of operations, sang the national anthem, while members from Goodfellow stretched a giant U.S. flag across the arena.

“I was able to volunteer to help opening night,” said U.S. Air Force 2nd Lt. Stephanie Zappoine, 315th Training Squadron student. “It was just a super cool experience and I had to come back for this night.”

U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Daniel Parnell, 315th TRS student also attended opening night and felt he was able to cross an experience off of his bucket list.

“I have always wanted to help with something like this, since I was a kid,” said Parnell. “It is just amazing that I get to do it so early in my career.”
