A Thanksgiving message to the men and women of AETC Published Nov. 24, 2010 By Gen. Edward A. Rice AETC RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- What a wonderful time of year as friends and family gather to spend time together celebrating Thanksgiving and remembering the blessings the year has brought forth. For our first Thanksgiving with The First Command, Teresa and I have a great deal to be thankful for, including: the privilege of joining a truly outstanding team of professionals, the many liberties we enjoy and a family of co-workers that take care of each other. We're also thankful and proud of the sacrifices our deployed Air Force and sister service members have made in the service of our country and for the liberties those sacrifices have helped to ensure. I encourage you to reach out to each other during this season, especially those who may be quietly struggling through the holidays. Re-affirm your family ties, your friendships and remember those who cannot be with us. The holidays afford us an opportunity to relax with friends, watch some football or travel to see family. If you choose to drink, drink responsibly and continue to be good wingmen watching out for those whose judgment may be impaired. If you're driving, please exercise caution in the busy holiday traffic, watch your weather and plan your trip to include regular breaks. Thanks to each of you for your contributions in service to our Nation, and may you all have a joyous, safe and wonderful Thanksgiving!
