The 2010 Combined Federal Campaign kicked off October 4, and the results are in. The base's campaign goal was 100 percent contact and $100,000 this year.

The Airmen of Team Altus raised a record setting $117,636 for hundreds of different charities during this year's campaign.

The CFC allows members of the military and government employees to donate money to worthy causes and help those less fortunate than themselves.

"The enthusiasm of the CFC key workers and the generosity of the donors were overwhelming," said Maj. Mike C. Coppola, 97th Air Mobility Wing combined federal campaign coordinator. "The efforts of all of the units were evident in the amount of fundraisers that were held during the six week campaign and the total amount of people who pledged."

Altus AFB held 11 wing-wide fundraisers, raising more than $5,600.

More than 4,000 charities participated in the world-wide event, with 15 local organizations taking part. This year's campaign emphasized the organizations in the local area, which will be evident when the funds are dispersed.

"We should have a good idea on the total each local charity received in donations by the end of next week," said Senior Master Sgt. Erica M. Hammond, 97th AMW operations leader for the CFC. "After we confirm all of our donations, we will have the honor of informing local charities how much the people of Altus donated to their organizations."

According to Major Coppola and Sergeant Hammond, the campaign was a success due to the hard work of the key workers and the generosity of the members of 97th AMW.

The campaign came to a close November 12th.
