Sheppard members set the pace in mini-biathlon

More than 40 men, women and children from Sheppard AFB, Texas, participated in the mini-biathlon July 24.

The biathlon consisted of a 20K bike ride and a 5K run. The winners were selected based on the three fastest times in the categories of men 40 and over, men 39 and under, women 39 and under, youth boys 16 and under and youth girls 16 and under.

In the category for men 40 and over, first place went to Col. Gianluca Piccolomini with a time of 1:03:24, followed by Capt. Eirik Thunold 1:05:30, and Staff Sgt. Atis Sanfier 1:07:02.

In the category for men 39 and under, first place went to Capt. Scott Ahrens with a time of 56:31. Airmen 1st Class Cody Reynon, 56:53, and 1st Lt. Evan Erickson, 58:29, finished second and third, respectively.

Danielle Erickson came in first with a finish time of 1:01:11 in the category for women 39 and under. Rebecca Price with a time of 1:11:24, and Sgt. 1st Class Chalawnda Kelly finished in 1:17:11.

For youth boys 16 and under, Aaron Berndt won first place with a time of 1:16:33, followed by Matthew McDonald, 1:17:49, and Nathan Ragsdale, 1:36:29.

Amiera Jensen was awarded champion for youth girls 16 and under with a time of 1:50:48.
