The commander of Air Education and Training Command begins using Twitter to communicate to internal and external audiences July 1.

Gen. Stephen R. Lorenz will "tweet" via the username "AETCBoss" on the social media micro-blog site to provide updates about the command, details about his activities as commander and insights about what is on his mind.

The commander said using Twitter to conduct communication outreach goes hand-in-hand with the command's philosophy of applying innovation and leveraging technology to move the Air Force into the future.

"Social media sites and Web 2.0 advancements allow us to connect to people in the cyber places where they are engaged," General Lorenz said. "It is critical for our command to have a voice and conduct discourse where millions of people are connected. This is especially true for a commander who wants to interact with younger 'digital native' Airmen and Americans."

The AETCBoss Twitter page is at www.twitter.com/aetcboss. A pre-launch message will be posted prior to the general's initial tweet on July 1 allowing people to sign on as followers.
