Laughlin aces test Published May 13, 2010 By Airman 1st Class Blake Mize 47th Flying Training Wing public affairs LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Laughlin's 47th Flying Training Wing met and even exceeded expectations and standards during its recent Unit Compliance Inspection conducted by the Air Education and Training Command inspector general team. For the second time, Laughlin was issued an overall rating of excellent, with several agencies and squadrons receiving the highest possible grades. Col. Jeffrey McDaniels, 47th Flying Training Wing commander, said Laughlin is the first Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training base to receive an excellent rating in more than three years and the first base AETC-wide to garner such a rating this year. From May 2-11, every aspect of Laughlin AFB was inspected to ensure compliance with Air Force directives and standards. From the dress and appearance of Laughlin's Airmen to the smallest details of its agencies, no stone was left unturned. "The wing took on an enormous challenge and succeeded with flying colors," said Lt. Col. Christopher Lachance, 47th Flying Training Wing staff director. "It is with great pride that I call myself a member of this team." Although the perception may be that Laughlin's leadership will receive the bulk of the praise for this success, Colonel Lachance said the impression left on the inspectors was created by every one of Laughlin's Airmen and everyone should be commended. "Without the 100 percent commitment of every member of this team, achieving this goal simply would not have been possible," Christopher Lachance said.
