Junior enlisted servicemembers give back Published May 14, 2010 By Staff Sgt. Justin Kappenman 363rd Training Squadron SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- When the request to restore a local Veterans of Foreign Wars facility was presented at a monthly meeting, the members of Junior Enlisted Team Sheppard gladly accepted the challenge. JETS kicked off the VFW Chapter 8878 project May 8, as members volunteered to enhance the facility. Twenty-one JETS members volunteered more than 160 hours painting the facility's bingo room floor. Tech. Sgt. Brandon Broadway, JETS president, 373rd Training Squadron, said the organization plans to complete various renovation projects for Chapter 8878 throughout the year because it is a great way to give back to local veterans. Sergeant Broadway said it is up to the members to become involved. "You decide how active of a member you want to be," he said. "We are here to help support your professional development goals as well as enhance your quality of life here at Sheppard." All levels of leadership are encouraged to attend the meetings and provide input as well, said Sergeant Broadway. "Come out and see what JETS has to offer your troops," he said. "And let us know what we can do for you."
