Harris military dynasty - from Army Air Force to track select Published May 6, 2010 VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- There are three generations of Air Force officers in the Harris family, and all three attended 2nd Lt. John M. Harris' track select held April 23 at Vance AFB. His brother, Capt. Wiley A. Harris, is a C-130J pilot with the 48th Airlift Squadron at Little Rock AFB, Ark. The Harris brothers' father, Col. Michael E. Harris, retired after a 30-year Air Force career, during which he was an electronic warfare officer onboard B-52s and RC-135s. He was born on base here when his father, Col. John W. Harris, was a B-26 instructor pilot at Vance AFB in the early 1950s. Colonel John Harris joined the Army Air Force in 1943 and received part of his pilot training at Vance AFB in BT-13s. He retired in 1976 and has 16,000 flying hours in 27 different aircraft. Lieutenant Harris is in Joint Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training Class 11-01 and was selected to train in the T-1A Jawhawk with the 32nd Flying Training Squadron.
