The 80th Operations Group was rated "Excellent" by the Air Education and Training Command Inspector General team Feb. 2 following a week-long unit compliance inspection of the wing that resulted in an overall "Satisfactory" rating.

The AETC IG team also recoThose recognized and coined for their exceptional performance include Tommy Goodwin, 80th FTW, Senior Airman Sumera Shehzadi, 469th Flying Training Squadron, Maj. Thomas Kisio, 89th FTS, and Staff Sgt. Regina Nickel, 80th Operations Group.

Col. Monty Brock, Air Education and Training Command Inspector General, said there is nothing easy about a Unit Compliance Inspection.

"Preparing for the UCI is hard work, but a lot of it is the attitude that will carry you through," the colonel said. "I want to say congratulations on going through one of the hardest inspections that the Air Force gives."

Maj. Gen. Gregory Feest, 19th Air Force commander, said the UCI outcome was the result of the team effort between all of the members of the 80th FTW.

"You all should feel very proud of this rating and how you all did in this inspection," General Feest said. "You all had a great showing, and the motto of the 19th Air Force is 'Providing future air power now,' and you have proven that, that it is what you do every day here."

Col. Kevin Schneider, 80th FTW commander, gave a "thank you" speech at the end of the out brief and said that although there are things that needed to change over the next few months he was proud of the hard work put into preparing for the UCI.

"First, I want to start off by saying thanks," the colonel said. "I want to thank each and every one of you for what you do, what you did for this inspection and for what you do every single day. The second thing is be proud, the satisfactory rating is not a given during this tough inspection.

"We did good on some things and there are other areas that we can stand to improve on," Colonel Schneider said. "The thing I will take away from this is the thing that we can control directly, the things we have the most influence on we do very, very well. There are a couple of challenges that we will work on and we will move forward on that."
