Media release: F-16 emergency lands at local airport Published Oct. 22, 2009 56th Fighter Wing Public Affairs LUKE AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. -- An F-16D Fighting Falcon assigned to the 56th Fighter Wing made an emergency landing at Wickenburg municipal airport at approximately 10:30 a.m. Oct. 22 after losing engine power. The aircraft landed short of the runway, but the crew of 2 pilots was able to exit the aircraft safely. First responders were on the scene. An investigation by Air Force officials will be conducted to determine the cause of the incident.
