AETC announces top 3 energy-reducing bases Published Sept. 10, 2009 By Capt. Rose Richeson Air Education and Training Command Public Affairs RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Air Education and Training Command officials recently announced the installation winners for the 2009 Energy Incentive Award program. Vance AFB, Okla., led the command with a 13.4 percent reduction in energy intensity and will receive a $1.5 million award. In a very tight race, Altus AFB, Okla., came in second with a 13.3 percent reduction and will receive $1 million. Third place went to Luke AFB, Ariz., with a 12 percent reduction earning them a $500,000 award. The program was designed to reward AETC bases that conserved the most energy from July 2008 to July 2009 with a monetary incentive offered to the top three energy-reducing bases. "Thanks to all of you for a very competitive race and special congratulations to Vance, Altus, and Luke," said Maj. Gen. Anthony F. Przybyslawski, AETC vice commander, in an Aug. 25 e-mail to the commanders announcing the results. Due to the amount of participation in the awareness campaign titled, "Secure Today's Energy and Fuel Tomorrow's Mission," AETC leadership plan to continue this program in Fiscal Year 2010. "Saving energy during this period took a tremendous effort on everyone's part," General Przybyslawski said. "I want to congratulate all the installations for working so hard to reduce their consumption and helping AETC toward meeting federal goals." AETC officials will present the awards to the winning three wing commanders here at the Commander's Conference Oct. 20-23.
