The 82nd Force Support Squadron received a five star validation from the three member Staff Assistance Visit team who inspected the squadron July 27-31 in preparation for the Unit Compliance Inspection in January.

The 82nd FSS commander requested the visit to gauge how prepared the squadron is and what they need to improve in the next few months for the UCI.
"The visit went very well. We got a five star validation from the SAV team," said 2nd Lt. Nikita Brown, deputy flight chief, force sustainment, 82nd FSS.

The team inspected multiple facilities, four of which received five star validations and praise from the team for being number one in AETC. These included fitness, food operations, lodging and marketing.

"The SAV team said we have 'the best leadership in the Air Education and Training Command from top to bottom'," said Jim Vose, deputy director, 82nd FSS.
The food production log training program showed opportunity for improvement. With this short coming, food operations was considered a very strong program with a competitive edge for this year's Hennessy Award.

Other areas were also found that can use improvement to better serve Sheppard.
"We can fine tune our mortuary plan as well as our marketing plan. Both are already excellent programs, but to better serve the Sheppard community, we are going to refine them and make them better. This is very important because our marketing plan is linked to the improvement of our customer service," Lt. Brown said.

Changes will be made to some other facilities on base as well. Both bowling alleys will be upgraded to Category B facilities and will start receiving appropriated funds which will free up money to purchase much needed equipment for the base's Category B facilities, she said.

"The SAV team was very impressed with our activities and raved about the staff we have here. Because of their visit, we are now better prepared for the UCI and competitive for several AETC and AF awards," Mr. Vose said.
