AETC announces annual security forces award winners

Air Education and Training Command officials congratulate the following 2008 Security Forces Annual Award winners.

Colonel Billy Jack Carter Award
-- Master Sgt. Timothy L. Miller, 341st Training Squadron, Lackland AFB, Texas

The Air Force annually presents the Carter award to the military, civilian or contract employee who makes the most significant contribution in protecting Air Force people and resources. The award is named for the first career security police officer to become the Air Force chief of security police. Colonel Carter also served as the commander of the 377th Security Police Squadron at Tan Son Nhut Air Base, South Vietnam, which distinguished itself in Vietnam during the Tet Offensive.

Elizabeth Jacobson Award

The Elizabeth Jacobson Award is named for Airman 1st Class Elizabeth Nicole Jacobson, who was the first security forces member and the first Air Force female to be killed in action in Iraq. The award is given to the first-term security forces Airman who best exemplifies the war fighting contributions of Airman Jacobson.
