T-6A Texan II lands short of the runway at Vance Published June 4, 2008 By 71st Flying Training Wing Public Affairs VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- An Air Force T-6A Texan II assigned to the 71st Flying Training Wing was damaged upon landing at approximately 10:20 a.m. near the inside runway here. One instructor pilot and one student on board exited from the aircraft without injuries. Vance emergency response personnel were on scene immediately to assist in recovery efforts. The T-6A is a single-engine, two-seat primary trainer designed to train Joint Primary Pilot Training students in basic flying skills common to U.S. Air Force and Navy pilots. The incident is being investigated.
