Air Education and Training Command officials are seeking runners for the 2008 Air Force Marathon, scheduled for Sept. 20 at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio.

The command will sponsor two teams of four members, plus four individual runners. AETC will be represented in the Men's Open Relay, Women's Open Relay, and individual categories.

Interested runners can submit team or individual nominations through their base fitness center. Each fitness center director will forward the base's most qualified team or individuals for consideration by the command.

"In my opinion, AETC has the best athletes in the Air Force," said Terry Prudhomme, AETC fitness liaison. "The way to prove we are the best is to compete and win. We won the first Air Force Marathon MAJCOM Challenge trophy in 2007. We are now looking for the teams and individuals to bring home the trophy to what we consider its permanent residence -- AETC."

Submissions should be on AF Form 303, one per individual. The submission should include the category (men's or women's relay, men's or women's individual full marathon) and athletic uniform sizes. Forms should be submitted in Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) or ICS Viewer PureEdge (.xfd) format.

The submission cutoff date varies by base, so submissions should be made as soon as possible.

The AETC board will evaluate nominations received from around the command and select the runners early this summer.
