Kenney Award for Lessons Learned Published April 15, 2008 RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Air Education and Training Command officials recently announced the Career Enlisted Aviator Center of Excellence, 344th Training Squadron, Lackland AFB, Texas, as the AETC winner for the 2008 General George C. Kenney Award for Lessons Learned. The 2008 General George C. Kenney Award for Lessons Learned is an Air Force Association sponsored award and recognizes an individual or organization (active, reserve or guard) which makes the most notable contribution to the Air Force through lessons learned. The award is open to all Air Force regular, reserve, guard or civilian members and may be awarded for either an individual or team effort. Some of the Career Enlisted Aviator Center of Excellence's many accomplishments that led to their selection for this award are: The massive stand-up of the Center of Excellence during this past year was formally recognized as Air Education and Training Command's #1 AFSO21 initiative. By reorganizing the enlisted aircrew pipeline training, the Center of Excellence eliminated 14 mandays for students awaiting training thus reaching an estimated savings of 13,900 mandays and $3.44 million through fiscal year 2008. The overall cost for the startup of the Center of Excellence was under $1.5 million which was $3.25 million less than the original estimate. In addition, the thorough research of 2,000 training elements by enlisted aircrew subject matter experts identified common core criteria which directly resulted in the development of a new multi-Air Force Specialty Aircrew Fundamental Course. The Center of Excellence will now compete at the Air Force-level competition.
