AETC announces 2008 National Image, Inc. Meritorious Service Award winner Published Feb. 20, 2008 RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Air Education and Training Command officials recently announced the AETC winner for the 2008 National Image, Inc. Meritorious Service Award. The command selected Master Sergeant Veronica L. DeJong, 56th Communications Squadron, Luke AFB, Ariz. While assigned to the 56th CS, Sergeant DeJong managed the Defense Automated Processing System program and Office of Records protecting more than $1 million in fighter wing resources. She also authored an operating instruction for her work center which developed procedures and evaluation criteria for more than 60 network professionals providing them clear guidance. Her tireless efforts to better her community garnered her election to the Saint John Vianney School Advisory Board Vice Presidency. She helped review the academic progress of 340 students and recommended potential improvements for their success. In addition, she organized and distributed food and gifts during an Adopt-a-Family event to the low income Hispanic "Las Ligas" community. With her dedication to public service, she volunteered more than 540 hours at a home in Phoenix for homeless and abandoned pregnant women. Furthermore, she created and implemented a base wide computer standardization compact disk which reduced desktop configuration time by 95 percent. Sergeant DeJong will compete at the Air Force level competition.
