The 97th Logistics Readiness Squadron here was recently awarded the 2007 Air Education and Training Command Daedalian Maj. Gen. Warren R. Carter Effectiveness award.

The 97th LRS received the award for providing outstanding logistics support for their command.

"Our Airmen have managed AETC's largest fuel account -- delivering 56 million gallons to support 39 wing aircraft without incident," said Lt. Col. Derek Oliver, 97th LRS commander.  "They produced a 91 percent mission capable rate for a fleet of 514 vehicles valued at $65 million, spurred air transportation of 105 tons of critical command and control equipment to rebuild Iraqi infrastructure.  They also drove 18,000 convoy miles in the Central Command area of responsibility to resupply 37 Iraqi bases with 390,000 tons of OIF cargo without casualties."

The Order of Daedalian Foundation established the Daedalian Maj. Gen. Warren R. Carter Effectiveness award in 1962 to help promote maximum supply effectiveness and efficiency in the Air Force.

The squadron will now represent AETC at the Air Force level.
