AETC runners take first at Air Force Marathon Published Sept. 19, 2007 RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- For the fifth year in a row, an Air Education and Training Command-sponsored marathon team won its category at the Air Force Marathon held at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, Sept. 15. The AETC Men's Relay team placed first in the open division with a time of 2:40:24. The team comprising of Capts. Daniel Armeson, Aaron Gill and John Mirtich, and 1st Lt. Aric Wagner, hailed from Laughlin AFB, Texas. The AETC Women's Relay team of Capt. Kristi Contardo from Columbus AFB, Miss.; Capt. Kellie Courtland from Lackland AFB, Texas; 1st Lt. Jennifer Lepper from Keesler AFB, Miss.; and Tech. Sgt. Saskia Johnson from Maxwell AFB, Ala., placed second in the open division with a time of 3:44:24. There were 1,651 runners, both male and female, in the individual runner category. AETC also sponsored four individual runners: Maj. James Boddy, from Randolph AFB, Texas, placed 18th overall with a time of 2:53:58. 1st Lt. Joshua Singsaas, from Tyndall AFB, Fla., was 19th overall with a time of 2:55:21. Maj. Rebecca Welch, Maxwell AFB, placed 249th overall with a time of 3:36:12. Airman 1st Class Angela Pena, from Randolph AFB, placed 615th overall with a time of 4:00:41. The Air Force Marathon is held annually around the Air Force's anniversary. The marathon path takes runners past the Air Force Museum, Air Force Institute of Technology, the Wright-Patterson AFB flight line and the Wright Brothers Museum. The marathon events were open to the public and featured more than 6,300 competitors from around the world. AROUND THE COMMAND Other first place runners from AETC were: 2nd Lt. Karissa Goodrich, from Goodfellow AFB, Texas, placed first out of 414 women and 52nd overall, with a time of 3:06:54. Sheppard AFB's relay team of Capts. Mark Roberts and David Max, 1st Lt. Rory Peterson and Tech. Sgt. Robert Anderson placed first in the military team category with a time of 2:40:03.
