AETC Airmen selected best in AF media contest Published April 12, 2007 RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas (AETCNS) -- A panel of civilian journalists, teachers and public relations professionals have recognized the work of two Air Education and Training Command members as the best in print journalism in the Air Force for their categories. Staff Sgt. Austin May, of the 47th Flying Training Wing at Laughlin AFB, Texas, won for Best Stand-alone Photo in the Air Force with his entry, "Splashdown." A stand-alone photo is a picture run in a publication by itself, without a story attached or supporting the photo. Major Mike Stolt, of the 97th Flying Training Squadron at Sheppard AFB, Texas, won for the Best Contribution from a Contract or Stringer Writer. This award recognizes the best story submitted to a publication by someone not on the regular editorial staff. Major Stolt's commentary, "On that day..." was judged the best in the Air Force for that category. Major Stolt and Sergeant May will join the winners in 30 other broadcast and print journalism categories in representing the Air Force in the annual Department of Defense Thomas Jefferson Awards competition. Judging for the DOD contest began April 10; results are scheduled to be announced April 17.
