The Air Force Recruiting Service honors its top 12 recruiters and their spouses this week during Operation Blue Suit XXVIII.

The recruiters, traveling from as far as Sacramento, Calif., and Mary Esther, Fla., are selected from among the more than 1,600 enlisted and officer accession recruiters worldwide. The Operation Blue Suit program recognizes them for their efforts in recruiting a diverse, high-quality volunteer force to fill career fields critical to the Air Force in accomplishing its missions.

"Recruiters dedicatedly work in one of the Air Force's toughest careers - 'selling' the Air Force," said Brig. Gen. Suzanne Vautrinot, AFRS commander. "Most of what people sell can easily be discarded, but our recruiters 'sell' a lifestyle. To meet the challenge, they must be the very embodiment of what it means to serve."

"These 12 extraordinary individuals have demonstrated they are what they 'sell,'" she said. "They are what they believe in, and they truly believe in the Air Force way of life."

During their five-day stay in downtown San Antonio, the recruiters and their spouses will attend luncheons, briefings and dinners at several well-known San Antonio restaurants and establishments.

Some of the highlights include a Blue Suit Awards luncheon, San Antonio Chamber of Commerce reception, Air Force Basic Military Training tour and graduation ceremony, river boat tour, and dinner at General Vautrinot's home, said Master Sgt. Tom Fenyoe, AFRS trainer. The winners and their spouses are also treated to an afternoon at Double Eagle Ranch in Marble Falls, Texas, as well as a visit for the spouses to a local day spa.

Sponsors of the program also present the Airmen and their spouses with additional gifts, including plaques, gift baskets and other small tokens of appreciation for their hard work and dedication, said Sergeant Fenyoe.

Operation Blue Suit winners are nominated by their recruiting groups and selected by a board based on their performance in meeting assigned recruiting goals, leadership qualities and other professional traits, said the sergeant.

"It's a whole-person concept, not solely based on recruiting numbers," he said. "They are truly the best of the best."
