AETC excels at 2005 Air Force Marathon Published Oct. 13, 2006 RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas (AETCNS) -- For the third year in a row an Air Education and Training Command-sponsored marathon team won their category at the Air Force Marathon recently. The AETC men's marathon team took first place in the Men's Open Relay category and sixth place overall out of 223 other teams. In addition, the AETC coed and women's marathon teams took third and sixth place respectively in their relay categories. The AETC men's relay team from Laughlin AFB, Texas, consisting of Maj. Rex Calvert, Maj. Robert Rice, 1st Lt. Daniel Arneson, and 1st Lt. Charles Eichner, ran the 26.2 mile course in 2:50:11. The AETC coed relay team from Keesler AFB, Miss., consisting of Lt. Col. Maureen Koch, Capt. Max Lemons, Airman 1st Class Zachary Wallick, and Airman Guadalupe Vasquez, finished in 2:58:10, while the AETC women's relay team from Lackland AFB, Texas, consisting of Col. Gina Grosso, Tech. Sgt. Lori Mata, Tech. Sgt. Lisa Moberly, and Staff Sgt. Stephanie Forbes, ran the course in 4:11:12. "Once again AETC was well represented at the Air Force Marathon. We sponsored 10 teams, all finished in the top 10 of their respective category. We couldn't have asked for more from our runners," said 1st Lt. Adam Vaccarezza, chief, AETC Fitness and Sports Program. In 2003, the sole team representing AETC, from Vance AFB, Okla., won the Coed Open Relay category with a time of 2:38:51. In 2004, the AETC men's team from Luke AFB, Ariz., won the Military Open Relay category with a time of 2:39:48.
