EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla.-- Col. Ronald Llantada took command of the 33rd Maintenance Group during an assumption of command ceremony at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, June 10, 2021.

Llantada transitioned to the 33rd MXG after previously serving at Robins Air Force Base, Georgia, where he was the Chief of Inspections Division, Directorate of the Inspector General, Headquarters Air Force Reserve Command. Llantada has also served as the advisor to commander for the Royal Saudi Air Force and as Chief, Air Force Division, United States Military Training Mission, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Col. Jon Wheeler, 33rd Fighter Wing commander, presided over the ceremony.

“Col. Llantada, you are joining a team of problem solvers who simply refuse to fail,” said Wheeler. “This is a truly outstanding team.”

Chief Master Sgt. Deon Little, 33rd MXG superintendent, passed the guidon to Wheeler, who then passed it to Llantada, symbolizing the passing of authority to the new commander.

“The right balance between people, development, and mission execution with safe, reliable aircraft will be my priority,” said Llantada. “That will continue to be our Maintenance Group’s focus to develop and retain multi-capable, professional Airmen, remain relevant in today’s and tomorrow’s Air Force and accelerate change to posture our Airmen for success during a high-end fight.”
