JBSA commemorates 20th anniversary of 9/11 Published Sept. 10, 2021 502nd Air base Wing Public Affairs JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- To commemorate the 20-year anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, Joint Base San Antonio hosted a synchronized flag formation at all three installations (JBSA-Lackland, JBSA-Fort Sam Houston and JBSA-Randolph) at 7:46 a.m. Sept. 10. The ceremonies included a flag formation, a moment of silence, an invocation and a speaker. Brig. Gen. Caroline M. Miller, 502nd Air Base Wing and JBSA commander, led the remembrance ceremony at JBSA-Lackland. The particular time of 7:46 a.m. Central time was chosen as that was when Flight 11 crashed into the north face of the North Tower (1 WTC) of the World Trade Center in New York City, between floors 93 and 99, at 8:46 a.m. Eastern time on Sept. 11, 2001.
