Vapor Supercar unveils special operations theme Published April 22, 2014 Air Force Recruiting Service Public Affairs JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-RANDOLPH, Texas -- The U.S. Air Force's supercar, Vapor, unveiled its new special operations-themed trailer during the MotoGP race weekend at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, April 11-13. The new theme allows visitors to experience the parallels between the technology in the car and technology used by Battlefield Airmen. "We are excited to showcase the Vapor Supercar to inspire and educate the public about the Air Force," said Lt. Col. Angie Blair, 341st Recruiting Squadron commander. "The precision, stealth and high-tech features of the car are intended to give visitors a small glimpse into the world of special operations." When people think about special operations, they think Navy Seals or Army Rangers but they don't realize that the Air Force has special ops careers, too, said Eric Brown, Vapor tour manager. "All of Vapor's high-tech features showcase technology that Battlefield Airmen use every day," he said. "Vapor is weapons capable and features radar absorbing paint and stealth mode that muffles the sound of the exhaust but allows it to operate at full power. It also has a 360-degree surveillance camera that records everything from up to a quarter mile away. Vapor can drive in total darkness without headlights because it navigates using infrared, night vision and thermal vision." The trailer features videos, interactive touch screens and video games for visitors to enjoy and learn more about career opportunities in Air Force special operations. Guests who want to experience the features in the trailer are asked to sign in using one of the iPads available at the welcome tent. After registration, guests receive a rubber bracelet with a computer chip which activates the videos and games. Tour guides are available to demonstrate Vapor's features and Air Force recruiters are on hand to answer questions about career opportunities. Vapor will tour the country from April to late November, stopping a various schools during the week and at special events like MotoGP on weekends.
