AETC officials announce 2015 Outstanding Airmen of the Year

Air Education and Training Command officials announced the nine Airmen selected as the command’s 2015 Outstanding Airmen of the Year.

The award distinguishes AETC’s enlisted Airmen for their leadership, job performance, community involvement and personal achievements.

"I congratulate all of these individuals for their incredible commitment and wish them the best of luck at the Air Force-level competition," said Gen. Robin Rand, AETC commander. "In addition, I greatly appreciate those supervisors and commanders who invested the time and effort to recognize all of their superior performers. Job well done!”

AETC Command Chief Master Sgt. Gerardo Tapia also praised the winners for their outstanding efforts.

"I’m so proud of the accomplishments these Airmen have shown, setting the example through their diligence and hard work,” Tapia said. “They truly represent the best of the United States Air Force.”

The 2015 AETC Outstanding Airmen of the Year are:

Airman of the Year: Senior Airman James A. Sottile, 42 MDSS, Maxwell AFB, AL

NCO of the Year: Staff Sgt. Shelby S. Vande Zande, 42 MDOS, Maxwell AFB, AL

SNCO of the Year: Master Sgt. Timothy A. Mason, AETC A4/7, JBSA-Randolph, TX

First Sergeant of the Year: Senior Master Sgt. Jamie C. Williams, 802 SFS, JBSA-Lackland, TX

Honor Guard Member of the Year: Senior Airman Vincent A. Glenn-Stone, 42 FSS, Maxwell AFB, AL

Honor Guard Program Manager of the Year: Staff Sgt. Albert L. Hetrick, 17 FSS, Goodfellow AFB, TX

Military Training Instructor of the Year: Master Sgt. Nicholas Urdiales, 323 TRS, JBSA-Lackland, TX

Military Training Leader of the Year: Tech. Sgt. Titus D. Serrell, 66 TRS, Fairchild AFB, WA

Recruiter of the Year: Tech. Sgt. Cameron G. Bruggeman, 361 RCS, Albany OR

The Airman, NCO, Senior NCO and first sergeant winners will compete against other major command nominees at the Air Force level.
